Last Saturday, leaders of all four Streetizens branches finally convened for the first time (in person) for a site survey visit to Pulo Gadung, another one of Streetizens' community development sites.

Representatives from Jakarta Intercultural School (JIS), Sekolah Pelita Harapan (SPH), Springfield, Bina Bangsa School Pantai Indak Kapuk branch (BBS PIK) met with our JUR partners and the head of the Pulo Gadung partner community. We had an introduction session with half of the children in that area, and we found that quite a number of them have already begun primary education in a local school. They shared with us their dreams and aspirations, and we shared with them ours.

Their initial shyness towards us melted away as we asked them about their school activities, most of which revolved around conventional academic subjects. So our proposal for our future activities with the Streetizens community in Pulo Gadung is to draft a "curriculum" of sorts where we will teach them skills outside the academic sphere, like sports, arts, music, anything that will develop their creative/innovative side.

Also, be sure to look out for our next Streetizens campaign "#SayaMauBelajar!"
